Why is my outlook/hotmail/msn/live account not synchronizing or really slow?

With the recent changes on Microsoft servers, the IMAP protocol for outlook/hotmail/live/msn/etc. accounts is currently unusable for some external applications at this time.

Please set up your account as Exchange. 

Go to Menu>Tools>Accounts.
Click the '+' button.
In the New Account window choose Mail>Exchange.
Use your Microsoft mail address for both the Email and Username fields.  
 
Delete or disable your previous IMAP setup.
 
NOTES:
Exchange setup might take longer than usual, but unless an error pops up, let the configuration finish.
For older accounts or account with a large number of messages, the setup might take even few hours. Unfortunately, this is caused by the server and we cannot speed it up in any way.
 
Exchange Web Services protocol will synchronize your Mail, Contacts, and Calendar - you do not need to worry about any data loss because this information is saved on your mail server.
